Edward Hodge put up his legs on a table, put on his reading glasses and took up a detective novel written by Agatha Christie. He liked reading detective novels. There were different books of different subjects stocked up his library. They were of different themes and were classified by their subjects. But he was fond of detective novel the most. He hated being disturbed while reading. He had gone to page no 3, when his room bell rang. Flustered Mr.Hodge looked up. He strode in two large steps to the door. He asked sharply, “Who? Mention work before entering.” A voice said, “James Anderson, for a case.” Mr Hodge sighed. James was his assistant. Edward was a detective. He was famous for solving hard cases himself. James always found case to pester him. After thinking twice he opened the door. In the corridor stood a serious James reading a letter. James was tall, well built and often shared his wit. He was a lad of twenty and Hodge was twenty five. They had brother like relationship among them. James strode in. “Well.”, he said,”You have to figure it out.”
Introduction to the case
Edward pointed him to a chair and James sat down. He read the letter by himself once and then looked up. “May I read”, he asked. On getting permission he started reading.
“Dear Mr. Hodge, I am soppy for writing the letter though it is an important one. Something happened in my house. You have got to come. We will discuss this later in my house.
PS- You will know my address from your assistant. It is an walking distance and I will be available anytime.”
Then James looked up, “What do you think of it?”
“Interesting but needs some more details.”
James said, “It is two blocks from here, shall I bring you your coat?”

Can you talk sense
With people shouting at you ‘nonsense’?
Though it rhymes,
These are hard times!
There was a boy named Wood
Who beside a lake stood
Every day, every night
Hugging his pillow tight
Oh! What a sight!
He always bakes
Hot, hot cakes
With his friend Dwight
Who sits beside him all night
He opened his sock
While Bugs Bunny said ‘Hello Doc’
Oh how many cartoons he had watched
How many bullies he had dodged
When he sees a bird sigh
He yells ‘Fly bird, FLY’
Long ago, there was a king named Akbar. He had many servants, but two of them who were brothers, were his most favorite.Their name were Birbal and Dirbal. Dirbal was very foolish but Birbal was very clever. One day when the king was sitting on his throne a lot of noise came from the road.Akbar felt very disturbed. He sent Birbal and Dirbal to find out where the noise was coming from.Dirbal returned quickly. He told the king that there was a large procession outside. When Akbar asked why, Dirbal kept silent. He hadn’t asked the question and therefore did not know the answer. After a while Birbal returned. he told Akbar the whole story, because he fully completed the task of knowing what they were doing and why. Akbar was very pleased. He rewarded him with a bag of gold coins and made him his minister.
Moral- This story shows that wisdom wins over foolishness.
If I had the freedom of an adult
I would not get scolding If I get bad result
I would have the freedom to drive a car
And go alone to an ice-cream parlour
I could buy as much as I want
No one would ever dare to taunt
It is not as easy as it seems
To become an adult without any useful mean
Before my Block test begun, I was nervous about it. But on Wednesday 22.2.17, t got completed. I was thinking what to during holidays. With my friends we thought of C.I.D which meant for Children’s Independence Day. It signifies the freedom after our hard and tiring studies. We had to sit for our exams form 12 o’clock to 4.30 pm. But now we have the freedom to do anything we want. As i said earlier I decided my holiday routines. I wish we all are going to have a great holiday. Today, I am ending my diary here as I have run out of words. See you later on my next diary.
Date: 09-Dec-2016. Today I had lots of fun in my school. I and my friend invented a game called “Sebastian”. In this game everyone has to run around like hide and seek. Here the seeker has to catch one of the hiders and say “Sebastian” and add a color to it. Today the seeker caught me and said “Sebastian RED”. So i had to stand like a tortoise. Then one of my friends jumped over me and freed me. I also forgot to tell you that the hiders had to free the caught-ones by jumping over them or crawling under them according to the shape. I will end my dairy here. Hope you had a nice day.
Date: 28-Nov-2016. Today (Monday) was an usual day. We had ‘Bandh’. Everything was to be closed but our school was still open. Our school bus came late. As I boarded the bus I found it almost empty. After reaching school, I rushed to my classroom. I could count only thirty-five were present out of sixty-three. We were sitting scattered around the classroom. I failed to understand why so many people were absent, when everything was perfectly normal. I returned home feeling happy and confused. I hope everyday is ‘Bandh’ so that I can sit in the classroom with more space.
Date: 26-Nov-2016. It is my first diary i have ever written and i will tell you about one of my experiences. On Friday 25-11-16, I got up at 6 am. I had a trial organized by my school for a running competition in a stadium. I quickly got dressed in my uniform and set off at 7 am. When we reached my school it was 7:30 am. The school gate was not yet open. It had to opened at 8 am. As time ran by my friends came in.When it was finally 8 am the school gate was open. We all rushed inside. We were taken to our classrooms. After some time we boarded our school bus and set of for the stadium where the trials would be held. When we reached there we went inside. There were many shops such as Ice cream shops inside the stadium. We sat down on the grass. We were asked to divide ourselves into groups based on our houses and also divide among boys and girls. When it was the turn of Asutosh Mukherjee house, I walked at the starting point. We were six to compete. As the whistle blew, I ran off with full speed. When I reached the finishing line, i realized that I was the first to reach there. My teacher noted down my name as I had been selected for the finals. They told me that they would inform when the finals would be held and at what time. Then we were taken back to our school and again to our classes. We were dismissed at 11 a.m. It was one of my happiest moment in my life.
Richardson was walking in a sunny day. While walking he saw a line. It was for bungee, his favourite sport. He paid a ticket and went inside. After sometime, it was Richardson’s chance. A man tied a rope in Richardson’s leg. When he looked down, he saw a river because he was standing on a bridge. When he jumped, the rope broke! When he saw that he screamed ‘Ahhhh, Save me, Ahhh” and he fell into the river. He closed his eyes. The current took him in a place which he hardly knew. There were many mermaids. He claimed on an island to explore it. Richardson saw many funny little people. They were no bigger than three chilies put together. They were working in their garden. They had a mushroom like house. There was fresh air. The little people were scared by seeing Richardson. They started running. Richardson asked “Who are you? What is this place name? Answer me please, I am not going to hurt you” One of the men stopped, bowed to Richardson and said ‘Sir, this country’s name is Armello and island is Perf’ and walked away to his friend to tell that they could believe the giant (Richardson) everyone surrounded Richardson. Their king came and spoke to Richardson ‘hey you will have to get the golden giant to get back home. It is at the north.’ After this king’s speech, they ran out of the sight. Richardson started walking towards the north. After sometime, some ninjas like him appeared. He killed them by his karate skills. When he was near the golden giant appeared. Richardson couldn’t hit the samurai and he was badly bruised. In one hit of the samurai, he became unconscious. When he gained consciousness, he saw that he was going to be thrown in lava! Suddenly the door crashed (where the samurai could get inside the volcano opened. The opener were the once who aim to get the gold. They kicked the samurais so hard that they brokeof the volcano. Then they untied Richardson. Richardson ran off the volcano searching for the golden giant. The people stopped him and said ‘you have found the golden giant. This volcano is called golden giant. He came in the golden giant and ran out of it. Then he saw that he was on the bridge where he did bungee and his adventure had began while doing it. When the people saw him they were relieved. They took him home. He rested for a week. Somehow he had a nice adventure. He had a urge to do bungee again.
On 13th February, Saturday, we went to Mandarmani. We were accompanied by family of my three friends – Shomudro, Dohinee and Atrisekhar. While going we lost our way. We looked for the way for hours. Finally, we found our friends waiting for us. In the meantime, while playing, accidentally Shomudro injured himself.
We stayed in a hotel named Marino Beach Resort for 2 days and 1 night. We booked 3 rooms. After reaching our hotel, went to our rooms, changed our clothes and went to the sea. On our way, we found a treasure, buried under the sands of the beach. We had fun splashing in the sea. We went back to our rooms. In the evening, we saw the sunset sitting by the sea beach. When it was dark we had a barbecue in the garden. All of us enjoyed and took part in he music that was played there. We played many games like kabbadi, fooball, badminton in the flood-light of the hotel. We invented a game which I named “slow-haating” (slow-walking).
The next morning we played with two rabbits. I named them Raju and Kaju. We played football again. After we had our breakfast, we went to the sea again. We jumped over the waves. I chopped the waves imagining them as a mischievous giant. Dohinee and I enjoyed floating in the water. Shomudro and Atrisekhar was splashing water at each other. We all had coconut water by the beach. Shomudro suddenly said that there was no “haansh” (duck) in the coconut. We all shouted “WHAT?” and then aunty (Shomudra’s mother) explained that it was “shaansh” (coconut meat) that he was talking about. Everyone loved the word “haansh inside coconut”. After having great time in the sea, we had our lunch and started back home. On our way back, we had snacks in a restaurant. It was a lovely trip and I will cherish it throughout my life. We will go back to Mandermani and hunt the treasure which we have marked.
Last Sunday, I went to a picnic with my family and friends. It was a place called Kanak Garden. We went there in our own car.
On the way we picked up one of our friend and his family. When we reached there, everyone had already started to play. We joined them in the middle of the game. We played cricket and my team won. In the middle of the game, my mother forced me to have my breakfast. We had puri, sabzi and jelebi. We then made two teams. One team was of few dads and another team was with my friends. We played football. The game ended without any goal. After that I played a new game called ‘Housie’. I even won a ten rupees prize.
Then our dad’s began to lay the tables for our lunch. We had our lunch together. When our parents were having lunch, some of us clicked pictures of them and few served them. After lunch, as our parents were not allowing us to play cricket or football or badminton, we started playing hit the wicket. I was able to hit the wicket three times. Slowly it stated to get dark. We all said goodbye to each other and returned home.
This is the first time I went to such a picnic. I enjoyed it very much.
Jawaharlal Nehru’s birthdy is celebrated as Children’s day in India. This is celebrated on 14th November every year. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was the first Prime Minister of India and remained as the Prime Minister until his death in 1964. We celebrate his birthday as Children’s day because he loved children and also emphasized on giving love and affection to children. He was very close to the children and was known as Chacha Nehru. This day is celebrated to increase the awareness of people towards the rights, care , education of children. This day is celebrated with many events in schools of India. The teachers explain the importance of the day to the students. This is the day for students to remember Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru by his work for the country and also to take pledge for doing great deeds and sacrifice for the motherland.
One day I went to meet my friends. Their names were Bippo, the hippopotamus, Bagra, the panther, Bichu, the giraffe, Halwa, the elephant and Balla, the monkey. I played with them every evening. I liked hide & seek the most. One day Bagra drew the best in school. He scratched the stone a little on which he had drawn. His scratching had made an awful sound. When we returned home Bagra’s father uncle Diego visited us. He liked our den. My father Sher Khan was very happy to see Uncle Diego. Uncle Diego gave me his two long teeth and said, “use this to protect yourself from enemies.”
The following day i was roaming around the forest in search of prey. After sometime I didnot realize and suddenly i was caught in a cage. I tried all day to free myself. Then I heard the elephant’s parade going. I called my friend Halwa. He came with his family and friends and freed me with his trunk.
I tried to get back home. But I could not find my way home,
as it was very dark inside the deep forest.
I was so confused that I could not tell which path led where.
I heard an owl was hooting some where near by.
I became very scared. Suddenly, I saw something glowing beside me. So, I became more scared. Sweat came down through my body. I tried to escape, so i started running. After few moments I reached near the banks of a river. I looked up and saw the stars twinkling in the night sky.
Then I heard a roar. Then i again saw something was glowing beside me. So I closed my eyes. Something touched me and I was about to run again. Then I realized that it was my father who was looking for me quite anxiously. At last I went home happily.
