Bridge the gapGeneration gap has become a common problem these days. Often we find that the children are not being able to match the expectations of their parents. The children in turn are quite dissatisfied with their grown-ups. The parents and the grandparents are not being able to adopt with the changing times and this has lead to the wide spread of the problems. That is why we find the parents and the children are complaining about generation gap, that leads to mal-adjustments in social life.
We know that every problem has its own solutions. So the generation gap can also be bridged. The only thing that is the co-operation of the Gen X, Gen Y and Gen Z or the grandparents, parents and the children is needed. Then only the problem can be resolved.
So let us start with how the children can react in order to curb this problem. We have often noticed that the feeling of love, respect and honour for the elders are gradually becoming absent in the minds of the children. So the children need to develop a feeling of love, compassion and respect for the elders. They also need to be caring and helpful and should try to act as an extra helping hand for their parents and grandparents. Sometimes the children specially the teenagers think that they are more independent and do according to their mind. But that should not be the case. They should made to understand that the elders have seen the world for a long period of time and they need to honour their experience. They also think that their parents expect a lot of things from them but the parents in reality only expect an effort in their studies.
It is not only the children who should be made responsible in order to bridge this gap. The parents and the grandparents should also took the initiative. They should provide them their wards with a bit of space. No two individuals in this earth are equal to each other. This should also be under thier knowledge. Times have changed and their is no scope for the parents to compare them with their children. They should realise and not expect much from their children. The world is not easy for them. Higher expectations can make life stressful for the students and can lead to moodswings.
So the role of the elders indispensible in the lives of their juniors. They need to guide them in the life and groom them without any indulgence. They should get prepared for the challenges that they face in their life.
“LETS BRIDGE THE GAP” should be the order of the day.
