It was like one of those Friday evening during which Sundar was returning to Keutia, his native village. It was already 6 o’clock in the evening last it seemed to be quite late at night as it was already late November. Sundar was an employee in a private IT firm in Salt Late, Sector V, the IT hub of Kolkata. But during every ..day might be returned to his native village Keutia. It was one of those backdated areas that was situated in of the most remote areas located in the outskirts of the city region.
It was that particular time of the day which was mainly seen as the “hours of the defeated”. Sundar had taken this job only in the last month, but during this short span of time only he had developed a bad taste for home coming. It was quite obvious that a person who had shifted to the city would have quite mesmerized by the facilities that he could get in the city. In this IT firm work is done in moments with scientific precisions. But he was trying to escape from his weekly 9-5 schedule.
Sundar returned home. He asked his 67 years old father “Hi! Baba, how are you ?”. His father replied “I am fine, your mother has gone to Siraj’s house next door”. To his utter astonishment, Sundar remarked “why Baba?”. His father quite irritatedly remarked that “Arrey! Siraj’s brother Sajid is very ill today, so he will be taken to the ojha and the Tantrik who will perform their required rituals and the Yagaya and also will give a list of necessary do’sand don’t’s for the family. “Do you believe all these Tantriks? I don’t know.”.
Sundar felt extremely disturbed when he heard of this backdated practices that prevail in this area even today. It is merrily due to the fact that still poverty, literacy, unemployment have been the curse of the society even today. Despite the country has advanced so much in the fields of science, technology, astronomy, defense but still we have not been able to eradicate this backwardness from the country. He felt that as long this practice will prevail India will not progress.
According to Sundar he should develop a feeling of scientific temper and tolerance towards all in accordance with the fundamental duties stated by the constitution. As a responsible citizen of the country Sundar felt that it is a duty to be tolerant towards all and think rationally before taking our action. Being absorbed in this thought Sundar went for a sleep to have a super Saturday next day.
